Why Diddy's Exoneration Doesn't Matter

P Diddy's criminal trial recently wrapped up, with Diddy being exonerated of the most serious charge - sex trafficking. This seems like a blow to most people for the victims, and it certainly isn't good news. Essentially, Diddy's lawyers did a great job of showing that sometimes the victims consented to the orgies. Cassie Ventura, in particular, had to testify for three (3) straight days, and the defense presented texts between her and Combes showing that she consented to at least some of them.
But let's not forget the O.J. Simpson trial. Similarly to the Diddy case, Simpson was found in the civil court to have murdered Nicole Brown, but not in the criminal court. Why is that? Because the prosecution has a higher bar to prove in criminal court than the plaintiff's attorney in a civil court. There has to be no doubt in any of the jurors' minds that the defendant did it.
In civil court, the plaintiff only has to prove that it is more likely than not that the defendant did it. They only have to show that it's 51% likely that the defendant did it.
In the civil case, Ventura setteld with Combs for $20 milion. Let me tell you that no one settles the DAY AFTER THE COMPLAINT IS FILED for $20 million if they are innocent. The prosecutors may not have been able to prove that she complied out of fear, but anyone that's seen that hotel video of him chasing her down and beating the hell out of her understands that she must have been absolutely terrified.
And let's not forget the court of public opinion. We all know what Diddy is. And we won't forget. Thanks to Ventura's courage.
